Help Animals During Cupcake Day
by: October 6th, 2013
Believe it or not, eating cupcakes can help pets and animals throughout the Gold Coast. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) annual Cupcake Day raised nearly $2 million to provide medical care for animals in need.
French Pastry Chef Joel Helot was one of many local bakers supporting the cause. Chef Helot cooked up a batch of cupcakes for the RACV Royal Pines. He provided an assortment of flavours that included red velvet, passionfruit, berry strawberry and the ever-popular chocolate.
The cupcakes went for $2 apiece and the Royal Pines RACV was able to sell over one hundred of them. The cakes brought out the best in Royal Pines volunteers; they also brought in pet food and blankets for the animals in need.
It’s easy to see why Cupcake Day is fast becoming one of the most popular events on the Gold Coast. The region’s residents love animals and cupcakes and want to combine the two.
Since all proceeds from the event go to rescuing and caring for animals, it’s entirely possible that each sweet cake could save a pet’s life.
