The Bleach Festival
This wonderful festival is held in February each year and runs in conjunction with the always-popular Burleigh Pro surfing competition. The festival takes place at the southern end of the Gold Coast strip of beaches and is a celebration of art, music and surfing that showcases some of the hottest young talent in the Gold Coast region. If you are looking for an awesome festival to head out to with your family, the Bleach Festival is sure to do the trick, but if you plan to come, book your accommodation on the Gold Coast early, because space fills up quickly.
The Australian Sand Sculpting Championships
Almost every kid loves building sand castles, and you can be sure your whole family will be blown away by the amazing creations at the Australian Sand Sculpting Championships. Apart from those amazing sculptures, this great event also gets your kids involved in having a go themselves, with sand sculpting workshops, sand art sessions and sand bottle making sure to keep your little ones entertained. Gold Coast Artisan Fair
The Gold Coast Artisan Fair is one of the most family-friendly events of the year, and is held over two days in August in Ludington City Park. The Surfers Paradise Festival
This wonderful month long event is always one of the highlights of the year on the Gold Coast and will have your entire family well and truly entertained. The festival is held over four consecutive weekends spanning late March until late April, and showcases the best in art, food, music and culture. There are countless highlights sure to keep you and your family entertained, including the hugely popular Australian Street Entertainment Championships, the colourful One Way Street Festival, as well as the delicious and decadent A La Carte in the Park.
Chinese New Year
The Gold Coast always puts on a vibrant, colourful and spectacular celebration of Chinese New Year, and the festivities provide a wonderful way to introduce your family to some oriental culture. While the Dragon and Lion Dances are always huge highlights, the food is also sure to blow your mind, so book your Gold Coast accommodation early and plan to come for next year’s festival — which, in 2013, will be held in early February.
