The SMH announces the Best Places to Eat in Sydney for 2013
The Good Café Guide gives awards to the best coffee houses in Sydney. Here’s a recap of the awards handed out.
Hall Of Fame: bills, Darlinghurst.
bills opened up 20 years ago on Liverpool Street and is just as popular now as it was then.
Best Food Café: Kepos Street Kitchen, Redfern
Everything is made from scratch here, from the food to the coffee.
Eftpos Best Café: Circa Specialty Coffee, Parramatta.
This tiny café has amazing spirit, great coffee, and delicious food.
Best Coffee: Coffee Alchemy, Marrickville.
There’s no food available here, and it’s more of a roaster outlet than a café, but it’s one of the best places to get a coffee in Sydney.
Best Brew Bar: Sideshow at Single Origin Roasters, Surry Hills.
You can get anything here, from an espresso to syphon coffee.
Latorre & Dutch Best Boutique Roaster: Reuben Hills, Surry Hills.
You can get food here as well as an education about coffee. While you’re here, pick up some coffee beans.
Bonsoy Best Barista: Dan Yee of Salvage Specialty Coffee, Artarmon
If your goal is to be served by the best barista, go visit Dan Yee at Salvage Specialty Coffee.
Local Hero: Bourke Street Bakery, Surry Hills.
This bakery just launched a project called the Bread & Butter project, which teaches refugees to be “the bakers of tomorrow.”
Best Small Café: Brickfields, Chippendale.
This half-espresso bar, half-bakery will amaze you with its ability to be so much in such a small space.
Best New Café: Excelsior Jones, Ashfield
This café was recently converted from an old corner shop. You can get a great lunch here.
