Sydney Winter Festival Returns This June
The much loved Winter festival is returning to Sydney this year and will run from Friday 13 June to Sunday 13 July. The festival will be held during Darling Harbour’s Cool Yule event this year and runs until 10pm each day.
The co founders of the event, Martin Kratky and Christoph Doerfel are excited to show off their new activities, locations and sponsors.
“My vision is to encompass everything I love about my European winter experiences and bring those ideas to the Southern Hemisphere,” said Doerfel.
The main attraction of the Winter Festival is the beautiful open air ice skating rink at Tumbalong Park! Booking your chosen ice skating session is a good idea as they are extremely popular. Skate hire starts from $24 for adults and $14 for children.
Eat and drink
The Winter festival is somewhat famous for its amazing hot mulled wine, Gluhwein, as well as hot chocolate, German sausages and many more winter European treats. There will also be some authentic Apre ski bars so you can sip on schnapps and snuggle up under the heaters on a cold winter’s night.
There will be special themed nights, skating performances, ice hockey shoot outs, fireworks, light shows, lots of snow and live music & DJ’s. Grab a bunch of friends, take the family or have a romantic night out and feel like you’re in the snowy mountains of Europe.
You can also get into giant Lindt Lindor Balls on Cockle Bay, pose in a giant snow globe and jump on an 80 foot inflatable slide to recreate the thrill of Thredbo’s snowy slopes. There will also be kid-specific activities and events so it’s best to keep an eye on the Winter Festival website for the schedule closer to the time.
