This year’s Biennale of Sydney, which is entitled ‘You Imagine What You Desire’, will focus on artistic imagination as a spiritual exploration, according to a recent article on visual.artshub.com.au.

Curated by renowned Artistic Director Juliana Engberg, this year’s festival will feature an exciting and thought provoking program of events to be held at the Art Gallery of New South Wales (AGNSW). The program will include:

  • A unique sound and performance work presented by Chinese artist Yingmei Duan, who will create a forest within the gallery in which she will reside for the entire period of the exhibition.
  • An intriguing installation by Australian artist Bindi Cole, which will include a series of video monitors on which various people are saying “I forgive you!”. The work will be entitled ‘We All Need Forgiveness’.
  • A series of public lectures during the gallery’s regular Wednesday evening Art After Hours series, including a talk by Turkish-born artist Ahmet Ögüt, who will discuss some of his work which is on display at the gallery.

The works being featured at this year’s Biennale of Sydney will be on display at the Art Gallery of New South Wales from March 21st to June 9th, and they are expected to attract plenty of controversy and debate.
